August 28, 2017 – Burbank, CA - On a balmy, warm night in Burbank, CA, close to 200 TEA Western Division members gathered for an end-of-summer (although truly the beginning of summer for LA) BBQ and Behind-The-Scenes event hosted by and at Mousetrappe. Guests filled up on tri-tip, chicken and all the fixin’s then headed inside the studio for a walk-around tour with demonstrations of “The Evolution of Media Design,” a process and case study of the making of The Ferrari Experience at PortAventura World’s Ferrari Land in Spain, which opened last Spring. The demonstrations included VR, AR, video and a wall mounted timeline display of storyboards, scripts, concept art, and schematics that illustrate two media-based attractions, three pre-shows, and an immersive queue including 100 minutes of media and 40 minutes of music under the hood of the Ferrari Experience building.
This event was an off-shoot of the TEA Western Division’s Educational Panel in July, held at Art Center College of Design campus, where Mousetrappe’s Media Producer Eric Hungerford presented, along with four other panelists, on AV Design and Production for Location-Based Entertainment. “At tonight’s TEA Behind-the-Scenes event “The Evolution of Media,” we physically bring the prior TEA Education panel discussion on media design and production to life, showcasing the actual processes used in creating an immersive attraction, or in this case multiple attractions,” commented Daren Ulmer, Mousetrappe’s Founder and Creative Director. “It’s enormously helpful to those in our industry to understand how the creative process develops to integrate media, story, and actual implementation into a ride, show, exhibit, attraction or experience. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase this process to fellow TEA members.”
